2-amino-3-ketobutyrate coenzyme A ligase (IPR011282)

Short name: 2am3keto_CoA_ligase

Family relationships

None.

Description

2-amino-3-ketobutyrate coenzyme A ligase (KBL), also called glycine C-acetyltransferase, is a pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) dependent enzyme that catalyses the cleavage of 2-amino-3-ketobutyrate to glycine and acetyl-CoA, the second step in the conversion of L-threonine to glycine in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes [PMID: 10712613, PMID: 2104756].
