Short name: PABP_1234

Overlapping homologous superfamilies

Family relationships

These eukaryotic proteins recognise the poly-A of mRNA and consist of four tandem RNA recognition domains at the N terminus followed by a PABP-specific domain at the C terminus. The protein is involved in the transport of mRNAs from the nucleus to the cytoplasm [PMID: 9582337]. There are four paralogs in Homo sapiens (Human) which are expressed in testis [PMID: 11328870], platelets (Q13310 [PMID: 8524242]), broadly expressed (P11940 [PMID: 9582337]) and of unknown tissue range (Q15097).
