Family

Asparagine synthase, glutamine-hydrolyzing (IPR006426)

Short name: Asn_synth_AEB

Family relationships

Description

These sequences represent glutamine-hydrolysing asparagine synthase. The group have a poorly conserved C-terminal extension while bacterial members of the family tend to have a long, poorly conserved insert lacking from archaeal and eukaryotic sequences. Multiple isozymes have been demonstrated, such as in Bacillus subtilis [PMID: 10498721].
