Family

Hly-III (IPR005744)

Short name: Hy-lIII

Family relationships

Description

This family includes proteins from pathogenic and non-pathogenic bacteria, Homo sapiens (Human) and Drosophila melanogaster (Fruit fly). In Bacillus cereus, a pathogen, it has been show to function as a pore-forming hemolysin [PMID: 7495855, PMID: 8962879]. The human protein is expressed preferentially in mature macrophages, consistent with a cytolytic role [PMID: 7503749].
