Vps35 is a a core component of the retromer complex which functions in the endosome-to-Golgi retrieval cargo transport pathway [PMID: 11598206, PMID: 25937119]. Vps35 is part of the a cargo-selective complex trimer (CSC) of the retromer, which is composed of Vps26, Vps29 and Vps35 and is responsible for binding to and sorting protein cargo [PMID: 23148298]. Mutations in the Vps35 gene have been linked to Parkinson's disease [PMID: 25416282].
