Mitochondrial import inner membrane translocase subunit Tim16 (IPR005341)

Short name: Tim16

Family relationships

This entry represents the mitochondrial import inner membrane translocase subunit Tim16 (also known as Pam16).

Tim16 is the fifth essential subunit of the pre-sequence translocase-associated protein import motor (PAM) [PMID: 14981507]. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Baker's yeast), Tim16 is required for preprotein translocation into the matrix, but not for protein insertion into the inner membrane [PMID: 14981507].
