Family

Phosphosugar isomerase, KdsD/KpsF-type (IPR004800)

Short name: KdsD/KpsF-type

Family relationships

None.

Description

This is a family of closely related proteins with the phosphosugar-binding domain SIS (Sugar ISomerase) followed by two copies of the CBS (named after Cystathionine Beta Synthase) domain. The group includes GutQ, a protein of the glucitol operon [PMID: 16199563, PMID: 2134185] and KpsF, a virulence factor involved in capsular polysialic acid biosynthesis in some pathogenic strains of Escherichia coli [PMID: 16390329].
