Vacuolar fusion protein MON1 (IPR004353)

Short name: Vacuolar_fusion_protein_MON1

Family relationships

None.

Description

Members of this family have been called SAND proteins [PMID: 15647795] although these proteins do not contain a SAND domain. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae a protein complex of Mon1 and Ccz1 functions with the small GTPase Ypt7 to mediate vesicle trafficking to the vacuole [PMID: 12364329, PMID: 11169758]. The Mon1/Ccz1 complex is conserved in eukaryotic evolution and members of this family (previously known as DUF254) are distant homologues to domains of known structure that assemble into cargo vesicle adapter (AP) complexes [PMID: 10025966, PMID: 17075139].
