Family

Cytochrome c oxidase subunit VIIc (IPR004202)

Short name: COX7C/Cox8

Family relationships

None.

Description

Cytochrome c oxidase (EC:1.9.3.1) is an oligomeric enzymatic complex which is a component of the respiratory chain complex and is involved in the transfer of electrons from cytochrome c to oxygen [PMID: 6307356]. In eukaryotes this enzyme complex is located in the mitochondrial inner membrane; in aerobic prokaryotes it is found in the plasma membrane.

This entry represents cytochrome C subunit 7C. The yeast member of this family is called cytochrome C subunit 8P (Cox8).
