Transcription attenuation protein MtrB (IPR000824)

Short name: MtrB

Overlapping homologous superfamilies

Family relationships

This entry represents transcription attenuation protein MtrB. MtrB is required for transcription attenuation control in the Trp operon. This trans-acting factor seems to recognise a 10 bases nucleotide sequence in the Trp leader transcript causing transcription termination. It binds the leader RNA only in presence of L-tryptophan [PMID: 1551827].
