Family

ABC transporter, FecCD-like (IPR000522)

Short name: ABC_transptr_FecCD

Family relationships

Description

This is a subfamily of bacterial periplasmic binding-protein (PBP)-dependent transport systems family, and includes transport system permease proteins involved in the transport across the membrane of several compounds. This subfamily includes FecC and FecD, which are components of of the fec operon, a Periplasmic-Binding-Protein (PBP)-dependent transport system for ferric dicitrate in Escherichia coli [PMID: 2651410]. FecC and FecD exhibit homology to each other and are localized in the cytoplasmic membrane.
