AbstractHelp

Dehydroquinate synthase is an enzyme encoded by aroB. It is the second enzyme in the shikimate pathway, catalysing the cyclization of 3-deoxy-D-arabino-heptulosonate-7-phosphate in 3-dehydroquinate [1, 2, 3]. Since the shikimate pathway is vital for pathenogenic virulence in bacteria (including Mycobacterium tuberculosis) and fungi but not in mammals, it is an important target for the development of antifungal and antibacterial agents.
