Abstract
|
This group of proteins are related to the secreted virulence peptidase InhA (IPR008757) and along with InhA belong to MEROPS peptidase family M6 (immune inhibitor A, clan MA). On the basis of sequence similarity, and a conserved HEXXHXXGXXD motif, where the two histidines and the aspartate are zinc ligands and the glutamate is the catalytic residue it can be predicted that all members are peptidases. Annotation note: due to the presence of PKD repeats in some of the members of this group, spurious similarity hits may appear (involving unrelated proteins), which may lead to the erroneous transfer of functional annotations and protein names.
