Alpha-1,4-glucan-protein synthase catalyses the reaction:

protein + UDP-D-glucose = alpha-D-glucosyl-protein + UDP.

. The enzyme has a possible role in the synthesis of cell wall polysaccharides in plants [1]. It is found associated with the cell wall, with the highest concentrations in the plasmodesmata. It is also located in the Golgi apparatus.
