In some organisms, this enzyme is part of a multifunctional protein, together with one or more other components of the system for the biosynthesis of tryptophan [EC (anthranilate phosphoribosyltransferase), EC (anthranilate synthase), EC (tryptophan synthase) and EC (phosphoribosylanthranilate isomerase)].
