IntEnz Enzyme Nomenclature
EC 3.2.2.22

Names

Accepted name:
rRNA N-glycosylase
Other names:
Mirabilis antiviral protein
RNA N-glycosidase
gelonin
momorcochin-S
nigrin b
rRNA N-glycosidase
ribosomal ribonucleate N-glycosidase
ricin
saporins
Systematic name:
rRNA N-glycohydrolase

Reaction

Comments:

Ricin A-chain and related toxins show this activity. Naked rRNA is attacked more slowly than rRNA in intact ribosomes. Naked rRNA from Escherichia coli is cleaved at a corresponding position.
