IntEnz Enzyme Nomenclature
EC 2.1.1.173

Names

Accepted name:
23S rRNA (guanine2445-N2)-methyltransferase
Other names:
ycbY
rimL
Systematic name:
S-adenosyl-L-methionine:23S rRNA (guanine2445-N2)-methyltransferase

Reaction

Comments:

The enzyme methylates 23S rRNA in vitro, assembled 50S subunits are not a substrate [1]. The enzyme specifically methylates guanine2445 at N2 in 23S rRNA.
