IntEnz Enzyme Nomenclature
EC 1.1.1.211

Names

Accepted name:
long-chain-3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase
Other names:
3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase
β-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase
LCHAD
long-chain 3-hydroxyacyl coenzyme A dehydrogenase
Systematic name:
long-chain-(S)-3-hydroxyacyl-CoA:NAD+ oxidoreductase

Reaction

Comments:

This enzyme was purified from the mitochondrial inner membrane. The enzyme has a preference for long-chain substrates, and activity with C16 substrates was 6- to 15-fold higher than with C4 substrates. (cf. EC 1.1.1.35 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase).
