Microarrays and Data Mining 10 - 11 December 2002

Dear Associates,

EBI will host an Industry workshop: "Microarrays and Data Mining" on 10th - 11th December 2002. The Scientific Coordinators are Alvis Brazma and Jaak Vilo. Please find below a brief summary of the workshop:

There are two goals for the meeting. First, to present the tools and
databases created by members of the EBI Microarray group (these are
available to Industry Partners). Second, to present new microarray data
analysis research. The tools presented are the Expression Profiler
analysis tools, ArrayExpress microarray database, and the MIAMExpress
annotation and submission tool for microarray data. Overall, the
research topics to be covered during two days are: microarray gene
expression analysis, promoter analysis and transcription factor binding
site prediction using pattern discovery methods, gene regulatory network
construction and analysis methods, high-throughput analysis of
protein-protein interaction data, and an update on the ArrayExpress
database and ontology developments related to that. As a new and
emerging area we are introducing the subject of the analysis of genetic
information for population based studies.
