Logistics

Arrival Airport

The Industry Programme Workshop organises and pays for your ground transportation in connection with the Workshop's time schedule and your flight arrivals/departures to/from London Stansted Airport (30 minutes drive from the EBI), London City Airport and Luton Airport (both 50 minutes drive from the EBI).

Heathrow and Gatwick are both about 1.5 hours´ drive from here. During rush hour you must leave EBI at least two hours before the check in time for your flight from these two airports. Furthermore, Heathrow and Gatwick transports cost a minimum of US$110 one-way - these will not be paid for by EBI but we shall book the taxi should you want us to.

Consequently, if you can, please book a flight that lands in London Stansted, London Luton or London City Airport. Low cost airline EasyJet, Ryanair, Virgin Express and SAS all land in Stansted and fly from most European cities.

Arrival by private car or train

The EBI Travel Section has travel information for the region around the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus where EBI is situated.

Airport Pick-up

When you have made your travel arrangements, you should fax the details Liz Ford on the Registration Form. We will then arrange for you to be met at the airport by a driver carrying a sign with your name. At the Airport the driver will be waiting at the passenger exit after baggage claim and customs. As a participant in an Industry Programme Workshop you do not pay for transportation from the airport to EBI unless you are travelling from Heathrow or Gatwick airports.

The car service we will be using is Mid-Anglia Tel: 08000-191022 / 01223-836000. Please call Mid-Anglia directly if you cannot be at the pick-up point at the agreed time, otherwise EBI will be charged for the trip.

The Workshop dinner

On the first or second evening of the Workshop we organise a business dinner in one of the renowned restaurants in the area. We strongly recommend that you participate since it is the initial contact point between participants and speakers. Once you have signed up for the dinner on your registration form, a place is booked for you. You can cancel your dinner booking up until one week before the Workshop. Later cancellations are not accepted by the restaurants.

However, in case of a late cancellation the Workshop must pay for the booked dinner and we would then like to invite someone else (local scientific staff, tutors etc) in your place. So please do not stay away from your booked dinner without notifying me. You do not pay for the Workshop dinner.

Kindest regards

Liz Ford
