ChEBI Users’ Workshop19th-20th May 2008
Chemical Entities of Biological Interest (ChEBI) is a freely available dictionary of molecular entities focused on ‘small’ chemical compounds hosted and maintained by EMBL-EBI. The term ‘molecular entity’ refers to any constitutionally or isotopically distinct atom, molecule, ion, ion pair, radical, radical ion, complex, conformer, etc., identifiable as a separately distinguishable entity. The molecular entities in question are either products of nature or synthetic products used to intervene in the processes of living organisms. ChEBI encompasses an ontological classification, whereby the relationships between molecular entities or classes of entities and their parents and/or children are specified. The purpose of the workshop is to understand:
There will be a number of presentations by the ChEBI development team and key user groups along with a facilitated discussion on further potential activities. The workshop is coordinated through the EBI ChEBI group and the EBI Industry Programme. The Scientific Coordinator is Dr. Christoph Steinbeck Head of Chemoinformatics and Metabolism (christoph.steinbeck@ebi.ac.uk). The Industry Programme coordinator is Dr. Dominic Clark (clark@ebi.ac.uk) AccommodationPlease note that all on-site accommodation with the Wellcome Trust Conference Centre is fully booked. Please book your accommodation at the following hotels and we shall provide a free shuttle service between these hotels and the EBI, Hinxton.
