CC (http://www.genome.gov/page.cfm?pageID=10506376) CC Additional notes: CC Bacillus cereus NVH 398-91 was originally isolated as a contaminant CC of vegetable puree in a retirement house in Essone (France) by CC Marie-Laure De Buyser (AFSSA, France). The strain was identified as CC a cause of a severe food poisoning case. It was further CC characterized biochemically and a novel cytotoxin K was identified CC as a major cause of epithelial cell lysis leading to necrotic CC enteritis (Lund et al, Mol Microbiol, 2000, 38, 254). Although the CC strain was identified as Bacillus cereus, it appeared to be CC different from all known strains. Detailed phylogenetic studies CC using MLST approach placed the strain rather far from main strain CC clusters, but confirmed that the strain belongs to the B. cereus CC group (Sorokin et al, Appl Env Microbiol, 2006, 72, 1569). Genomic CC sequence clearly indicated that the strain is very different from CC other representatives of the group and should be assigned a new CC species status, for which we propose a name Bacillus cytotoxis. CC However, assigning of the novel species status is hampered by the CC fact that only one such strain is described at the moment of CC genomic sequencing being done (2005).
