Paper Submission Guidelines
Leading researchers and practitioners in computational biology, bioinformatics, and bio-IT will gather at the 5th European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB ’06). Presentations will describe both new computational techniques and their applications in all areas of molecular biology. We are soliciting research papers in any aspect of computational biology, including (but not limited to) the following areas:
* Biomedicine, epidemiology, & agriculture
* Pathways, networks, and systems
* Computational genomics
* Proteomics
* Computer-aided drug design
* Sequence analysis
* Databases & database integration
* Simulation & system dynamics
* Evolution and phylogenetics
* Structural bioinformatics
* Metabolomics
* Text mining
* Ontologies
* Transcriptomics
Accepted papers will be published in a special, open-access, online-only issue of Bioinformatics. They will be citable as regular articles and indexed in Medline and ISI. The Methods Online section of Nucleic Acids Research is an example of such online-only publication by Oxford University Press. Proceedings will be distributed to conference attendees on CD; hardcopy proceedings will also be available for purchase.
Papers submitted for review should represent original, previously unpublished work. At the time the paper is submitted to ECCB ‘06, and for the entire review period, the paper should not be under review by any other conference or scientific journal.
We will accept long papers, corresponding to “Original papers” in the categories of the journal Bioinformatics (5-7 pages long, at least 10-point type). We strongly encourage the use of the LaTeX or Word templates available for download farther down this page in order to facilitate processing of accepted papers. Using the templates will also enable you to accurately estimate the number of pages of your paper. The preferred submission format is PDF, though Postscript and Word files are acceptable as well
