Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and is known to cause around half a million deaths worldwide per year. Triple-negative breast cancers (TNBC), which comprise 15-20% of all breast tumours, are particularly deadly and are so named because they fail to express the three key receptors targeted by current chemotherapy regimens . As a result, common cancer drugs are unable to locate the cells and hence death usually occurs following metastasis of TNBC cells and development of tumours at secondary sites.
