07 February 2012 - Carbohydrates and ChEBI release 88ChEBI release 88 is now available, with 27,184 fully annotated entities. We would also like to announce changes to two ontological terms namely, 'carbohydrate' and 'carbohydrate derivative'. Thus the term ‘carbohydrate’ is now restricted to sugars (aldoses, ketoses etc) composed solely of the elements C, H and O, while the term ‘carbohydrate derivative’ encompasses amino sugars, thiosugars, phosphosugars, acylated sugars, glycosides, etc. These changes have been introduced as part of our measures to align ChEBI with the Gene Ontology. This is due to maintenance being required on the EBI data centres. We now have links to Wikipedia which allow us to display the Wikipedia abstract.
