The resistance gene is located on a transposon Tn841, CC which is found on a self-transmissible plasmid. I introduced this CC plasmid into a derivative of E.coli strain UB5201 which was CC carrying the multicopy plasmid pACYC184. I then obtained a CC recombinant plasmid in which the ceftazidime resistance determinant CC located on Tn841 had inserted itself, and the rest of Tn841 into CC plasmid pACYC184, giving the recombinant plasmid pACYC184::Tn841, CC and it was from this recombinant plasmid that I derived my CC sequence.
