Hybrids of the 129S6 x BALB/c F2 cross were bred locally. All mice were maintained on a 12-h light and dark cycle with light off at 8pm. Temperature was maintained at 20-22 °C. Mice were weaned at 3 weeks and housed in groups of 10 mice in standard conditions in open top cages according to UK Home Office regulations.
