Luca Cerone

Postdoc fellow - Saez-Rodriguez research group
I studied Mathematics in Rome at "La Sapienza" (2001 - 2007). I worked till 2009 for a private research company in Rome developing and applying Machine Learning algorithms to real world problems (Fraud Detection, Credit Risk, Motorcycle Racing). I then moved to Dublin for my Ph.D. studies in "Bioinformatics and Computational Biology" (2009 - 2013) during which I investigated several biological phenomena using mathematical models. I started working on hypoxia signalling and then developed models for post-translational modifications, gene regulatory networks, morphogenesis of S. pombe and Interfollicular Epidermis maintenance. I joined the Systems Biomedicine group in February 2013 where I will investigate how to apply Answer Set Programming (ASP) to reconstruct networks of protein - protein interactions using highthroughput phosphoproteomic data.
