Thornton Group Affiliations

The Thornton Group is affiliated with several other research groups, organisations and consortia.
  • Biomolecular Structure and Modeling group at UCL - In particular, we have very strong links with the CATH database team led by Christine Orengo.

  • BioSapiens Network of Excellence - The objective of the BioSapiens is to provide a large scale, concerted effort to annotate genome data by laboratories distributed around Europe, using both informatics tools and input from experimentalists.

  • Inpharmatica - is a UK-based company founded in 1998 specialising in bioinformatics for selective drug discovery.

  • The Midwest Center for Structural Genomics - aims to develop and optimise new, rapid, integrated methods for highly cost-effective determination of protein structures through X-ray crystallography. The MCSG is a consortium including EBI/UCL as members.

  • The Structural Genomics Consortium - is a not-for-profit company that aims to determine the three dimensional structures of proteins of medical relevance, and place them in the public domain without restriction.

  • Structural Proteomics in Europe - is an integrated research project which brings together some of the top European structural biology institutions in an unprecedented collaborative effort to develop new methods and technologies for high-throughput structural biology.

  • UK eScience program.
