All about the Thornton Group logo

Depicted in the logo are the initials T and G intertwined with a cartoon representation of one domain of the antifreeze protein structure PDB 1gzi. This structure is particularly interesting; synthesised by fish living in very cold waters, it helps to prevent them freezing by binding to ice crystals.

Credits

The logo was designed by Jonathan Barker, with (mostly) helpful comments from other members of the Thornton Group. The protein structure was rendered using PyMol, and composited with text using the Gimp.
