GO:0097191 extrinsic apoptotic signaling pathway

Term Information

ID GO:0097191
Name extrinsic apoptotic signaling pathway
Ontology Biological Process
Definition A series of molecular signals in which a signal is conveyed from the cell surface to trigger the apoptotic death of a cell. The pathway starts with either a ligand binding to a cell surface receptor, or a ligand being withdrawn from a cell surface receptor (e.g. in the case of signaling by dependence receptors), and ends when the execution phase of apoptosis is triggered.
PMID:17340152
Comment Fas acts as a death receptor with a role in apoptosis, but can also act as a non-apoptotic signal transducer.

ID Mapping

QuickGO maps between different identifier types by using a combination of mapping files provided by the databases, and using identifier cross-references supplied by UniProtKB.

If more than one identifier type needs to be used to map all required sequences, drag the selected databases to change the order in which identifiers are found.
