GO:0001508 action potential

Term Information

ID GO:0001508
Name action potential
Ontology Biological Process
Definition A process in which membrane potential cycles through a depolarizing spike, triggered in response to depolarization above some threshold, followed by repolarization. This cycle is driven by the flow of ions through various voltage gated channels with different thresholds and ion specificities.
Comment Action potentials typically propagate across excitable membranes. This class covers both action potentials that propagate and those that fail to do so.

ID Mapping

QuickGO maps between different identifier types by using a combination of mapping files provided by the databases, and using identifier cross-references supplied by UniProtKB.

If more than one identifier type needs to be used to map all required sequences, drag the selected databases to change the order in which identifiers are found.
