Comment This term is intended for sequence specific DNA binding transcription factors whose transcription factor activity is regulated by binding of a metal ion, e.g. copper, zinc, etc. Do not use this term for transcription factors which bind a metal ion all the time, where binding of that metal ion does not regulate the DNA binding, or some other activity, required for the gene product to act as a transcription factor.
