Database Browsing & Entry Retrieval

The EBI provides access to many tools for browsing and retrieving biological related sequence and literature data.

The following are links to the various database browsing and entry retrieval tools available from the EBI.

Database Description
BioMart BioMart is a simple and robust data integration system for large scale data querying, providing researchers with fast and flexible access to biological databases.
EMBL-SVA The EMBL Sequence Version Archive server is a repository of all entries that have been made public since release 1 of the EMBL database.
'EB-eye' Search The one stop shop to the EBI's data resources. You can perform an 'EB-eye' search for all databases, or choose from individual categories as follows: You may also search individual databases, and select individual fields to search against such as ArrayExpress, ASTD, BioModels, ChEBI, Ensembl, Ensembl Genomes, EMBL-Bank, GO, IntAct, Integr8, Intenz, InterPro, iprmatches, Ligands, Medline, PDBe, MSDchem, Patent Abstracts, PRIDE, Reactome, RESID, Systems Biology Ontology, Taxonomy, UniRef, UniParc, UniProtKB,
Fetch Tools
  • dbfetch - allows you to retrieve up to 50 entries at a time from various up-to-date biological databases.
  • emblfetch - allows you to retrieve up to 50 entries at a time from various up-to-date biological databases.
  • medlinefetch - allows you to retrieve one entry at a time from the MEDLINE literature reference database.
  • WSDbfetch - is a webservice implementation of Dbfetch, a generic DB retrieval system. It aims to provide programmatic access for sequence retrieval. This involves a service running on a SOAP server responding to remote client invocations.
Integr8 The Integr8 web portal provides easy access to integrated information about deciphered genomes and their corresponding proteomes.
ArrayExpress Search the ArrayExpress microarray database.
SRS The Sequence Retrieval System can be used to browse the various biological sequence and literature databases the EBI has available.
QuickGO  QuickGO is intended to be a fast web based viewer for the Gene Ontology data.
UniProt DAS The distributed annotation system (DAS) is a client-server system in which a single client integrates information from multiple servers.
UniProt Search Provides full text, advanced search, set manipulation and search filtering on the Universal Protein Resource.
WSDbfetch WSDbfetch, is a webservice implementation of Dbfetch, a generic DB retrieval system.
